it's true that football is still won in the trenches. Urban knew this, see OSU over Oregon in 2014. Harbaugh went all in

with stellar trench play, hence scUM over Washington in 2023.

: ...there will be 40-50 WRs that are 4 stars because well there's a lot of dudes that can look really good running routes and catching a football so it makes it tough to differentiate - so hey let's rank them all closely and highly because wow they look athletic (and they are)

: Whereas line play, linebacker, TE these are generally less glamorous (unless you're an DE which is now so glamorous you're called an EDGE these days) and tougher to spot guys that can really go. it doesn't jump out as easily and it takes some projection in some cases as the transition can be tougher at those spots.

: but overall you win in this game with OL, DL and QB and you fill in the rest around that. I saw Amon-Ra St. Brown is now the highest paid WR in the league. Really good player, but the numbers are outrageous for a position that arguably is trending to be somewhat disposable the way RB has become in large part for the reason you mentioned - college is churning out dudes at the position in good quality and numbers annually now.

: It's a QB, rush the QB, protect the QB league. everything else is expendable and interchangeable.
