time and effort running down our program ---- we all know now that violations occurred, our outstanding coach made a big error in judgement, he resigned, the players who committed the 'minor' violations have been punished, our starting QB has additionally felt the need to leave, we have put ourselves on probation, and now promised to institutionally forget about an entire season of football.
IT'S ENOUGH.
We need to stop beating ourselves up with this crap 24/7. I thought it was dumb to penalize ourselves in the first place (the five game suspension for the players), but then to come back with self-imposed sanctions for the coach, then more self-imposed sanctions for the coach, then his OSU-imposed resignation, then (I believe), the forcing out of our starting QB, and now the voluntary probation and 'vacating' of our season (whatever the hell that means).
I'm starting to feel like a little kid who got caught stealing cookies and my parents and the school principal have willingly put me in the juvenile detention center and asked for a series electro-shock treatments.
IT'S ENOUGH.
The NCAA is now going to do whatever it is they are going to do, so let's just hope the meeting in August goes well. But beyond that can we just stop this constant cycle of punishing ourselves over and over again?
I also feel bad for the crap we are giving many posters on this board. Face it, we're just a bunch of mainly middle-aged Buckeye fans who care a lot about what happens. But the endless speculation and critiquing what everybody now posts about everything is wearing on me hard. I know at least a couple of posters who can't stand to come here anymore because of the huge amount of negativity, back-biting, and bad blood on this site.

Whether it's the ones who think they're budding journalists, the 'special' folks with their 'inside' information, the 'Pollyannas' that always have their scarlet and grey goggles on (like me), or the never-ending parade of 'experts' that expound so confidently on the law, NCAA governance, the inner-workings of the athletic department, or the nuances of the media --- can we just have a minor moratorium on all this crap here? Can we just be a little nicer, treat our fellow posters a little better, and stop beating ourselves on the back with leather straps?
IT'S ENOUGH.
I've got my season tickets coming, my hotel reservations are made (including Lincoln), and I'm preparing to have a great season of Buckeye football. Warts and all, sanctions and all, they've been my team since I saw my first game in the Horseshoe in 1966 - and they'll be my team when I die. I'm tired of beating everyone up.
It's time for all of us to just be Buckeyes.
