my parents had taken me to the Jai Lai as a going away dinner.
He was there. I turned to my mother and said "I'd rather meet him than the pope."
I was shy but my mom was not. She grabbed me, dragged me over to his table, and said "This is my son, Michael. He says he'd rather meet you than the pope."
Woody shook my hand and looked at my mother and said:
"Well, the pope doesn't have a football team."
(I guess Notre Dame doesn't count. Wish I'd had the presence of mind to say that out loud at the time. Be interesting to see his reaction.)
